Chaperone Policy Summary

Our practice is committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients during consultations, examinations, or procedures. A chaperone is a trained member of staff who can be present to provide support and reassurance, as well as an additional safeguard for both patients and clinicians.

  • When can you request a chaperone?
You may request a chaperone at any time, particularly for intimate examinations or if you feel more comfortable having someone present.
  • Who acts as a chaperone?
Only trained clinical or non-clinical staff employed by the practice can act as official chaperones.
  • Why is this important?
Chaperones help protect patient dignity, provide emotional support, and ensure the highest standards of care.

If you would like a chaperone for your appointment, please let the receptionist or clinician know as early as possible.
